The Apace Cycling Shorts have been tested by Sanjay Sharma, Cyclop Team. Sanjay has finished the IronMan 70.3 Goa, 4 Full Marathons, 9 Half Marathons, 100miles, 200km rides, and a couple of Triathlons and Trail Runs.  He has been training for his next Ironman event recently.

When Satyen, a fellow rider, told me about the Apace Jersey, I thought it was just another brand, till I slipped my hand in the armhole, it was super comfortable! To test it, I wore the ‘Peela’ jersey during the Delhi heat (39°C) for a 75km city ride.

FIT- Flexible and Breathable

The club fit, multi-panel construction, usage of high stretch mesh fabric on the sides and the sleeves, make the jersey fit nice and snug while giving ample room for tummy roll during those long bent over saddle positions. The overall fit is very good though I would have preferred an extra inch in the jersey length.

Sleeves, the one thing that most manufacturers don’t get right, Apace has hit the right balance between snug and uncomfortably tight! I can compare the sleeve fit with my 2XU jersey fit.

STORAGE- Ample Pockets

The 3 back pockets are big enough to carry a mobile (without bouncing out), tubes, pump, extra buffs and gels/bars – And if clubbed with the Apace Evolve – the shorts with pockets, storage will never be a concern.

FABRIC- Dry-fit, Cool Mesh and YKK Zipper

The body, made from polyester knitted fabric gives a decent dry-fit feel. What I loved was the lightweight spandex mesh, used on the sides and sleeves, which wrapped the jersey and sleeves tight and kept me cool on the ride. A nice combination of fabrics.

Collar gives the required neck coverage and the broad YKK zipper is easy to maneuver even when wet and sweaty.

COLOURS and VISIBILITY

The light yet bright yellow color (that’s where the jersey gets its name Peela) is accentuated with light grey and white panels, and that combination looks great, in fact, got quite a few ‘lovely color’ comments from my fellow riders”

The jersey has one 1-inch reflector logo on the back pocket. This I felt was less and there could have been a few more reflectors as winter rides are usually in the dark or fog.

PROS

  • Comfortable and Snug Fit – with no flapping
  • 3X back pockets with good space for storage
  • Stretchable side-panels and Sleeves

CONS

  • Only one small reflective logo on the back
  • Jersey Length could be an inch longer

The Verdict

Overall, I totally loved the jersey and the price J J is built as an everyday cycling jersey. A must-have for every cyclist’s summer wardrobe!~ Cyclist Sanjay Sharma, Height: 5’10”, Chest: 38”, Weight: 74kg.
